Do you ever feel as if a slot game is tempting to try from the title alone? It’s hard to think of a title that would give you this feeling, but Shadow Gods surely manages it.
There are several hugely popular themes around in online slots today, and Shadow Gods has put one of those to good use here. Get ready to see what we thought of it in our review.
Could there be a better developer than this one?
Only you can decide, but if you like games created by Realtime Gaming (RTG), you are in for a real thrill here.
That means a demo is guaranteed
We cannot think of an RTG slot that hasn’t been released with a demo version attached. Certainly not for ages, anyway. This game does offer you a freeplay opportunity to see what’s what.
Does the title reveal the theme?
We didn’t guess it, but you might be able to. The Shadow Gods slot game is based in ancient Egypt, a popular setting for tons of slots. Don’t be disappointed though, as this game is easily one of the better entries into this range.
What do we think of the game’s design features?
This is a great game with an equally impressive design. Ancient Egypt is displayed in force, with the famous pharaoh lining up with the two gods of the title. We’ll meet those shortly, but if you were hoping to see the scarab beetle scuttling around, you will indeed see that as well.
The basic features you’ll see in action in Shadow Gods
Firstly, there are five reels appearing against the background. With three icons per reel, this part of the game is familiar enough. You’re limited to the prizes shown in the paytable though, as no progressive prizes are on offer.
The gods of the title are Horus and Anubis, each of which appears on just one reel. Both are wild icons, with Horus on the second reel and Anubis cropping up on the fourth. Each one is shown over all three spaces as a single full-height icon. If one only appears in partial form, the slot game nudges it to appear in all its glory.
There are two other important symbols too. The first one is a gold coin, appearing anywhere but required to appear six or more times to unlock the feature attached to it. Meanwhile, the pharaoh mask is the traditional scatter, with prizes available whenever at least three appear.
How many paylines appear in the slot game?
You get a generous 50 here, which is far more than many games can offer. They’re variable, but we always suggest covering them all with a small bet if you can.
What about the betting range?
The smallest coin is worth four cents, which means covering all the lines would incur a $2 wager on every spin. Reduce the line quantity to reduce the bet if you’re not keen but you still want to play.
Paytable information for Shadow Gods
See that little burger icon in the bottom right corner? That’s the one with three lines. Select it and you can go through to the info area, which reveals all the details about the game and how everything works. You can learn how much each symbol is worth in a winning combo, too.
Should you expect any bonuses to appear?
You should, and the one presented involves those gold coins. When six or more appear in one spin, you’ll see them fixed in place for three free re-spins of the other positions. Whenever one or more coins appear in addition to the originals, the re-spins go back to three remaining. This carries on until you either run out of re-spins or you fill all 15 positions with coins.
If you do manage to complete the screen with gold coins, the Grand Bonus is awarded. If not, the values on all the coins (each one is shown with a value on it) are added up and awarded instead. So, whatever happens, this is a good bonus to trigger.
Free spins are also available
Three or more of the scatters are needed to give you a chance to play one of two free spin rounds. In each case, six free games are given to you. If you choose to have the Wild Reels version, you’ll see Horus and Anubis occupying their respective reels for all the spins. Alternatively, if you choose the Treasure Spins, you begin play with three gold coins on the fifth reel. These remain in position throughout the free games, you can find just three more to unlock the Coins Feature we mentioned above.
In each case, the freebies can be triggered again by finding another three masks. We think the round is excellent, as you can choose the different versions whenever you unlock the feature.
We do not have the RTP yet
That could change, of course, but most RTG slots aren’t released with this information in tow.
Shadow Gods is highly rated by our team
We are giving it 9.5 out of 10, deducting 0.5 for the fact that they’ve gone for 2D instead of 3D. That’s it – the game itself is a beauty.
Do we know what the biggest prize is worth?
Yes, this is revealed in the paytable, where the biggest reward is confirmed as 50,000x your wager on that spin.
Play the demo for Shadow Gods to get things underway
If you are a member of an RTG casino (or you can access demos without joining one), you can try the demo version to see just how good Shadow Gods is.
How many players will progress to play the slot for real?
We think many people will, because this must surely be one of the best releases from this software developer for a while. That is not a reflection on recent releases either, which have all been good. It’s just that this one is better still.
Mobile play for Shadow Gods
As a modern slot release, you can try this one on Android and iOS tablets and smartphones too.
